LET'S GET STARTED:
I won't go into details of why anyone would want to root their Android smartphone.
However, I will mention that I purchased/ordered the LG G Vista / VS880 smartphone from verizonwireless.com in late March 2016. The reason why I decided with this model is because Verizon's website stated this model shipped with KitKat 4.4 which is known to be easily rooted. Although this phone only has 8 GB of internal storage, the low price point made it very attractive for me coupled with the plan to root the device and store my downloaded apps on the microSD card using third party software such as Apps2SD or Link2SD. I was saddened to discover the phone I received had Android Lollipop 5.1.1 and the 24A firmware version which made it unable for rooting using an existing method published on XDA Developer's Forums with the LG One Click Root method. It is also widely stated on XDA's forums that this device with the 24A firmware shipped from Verizon cannot be downgraded to Android KitKat 4.4. Just recently I discovered a rooting app called KingRoot (www.kingroot.net) that gets the job done! Visit www.kingroot.net from your smartphone and download the APK (software installation file) to your device. Install and run the KingRoot app on your device. It's a very simple one-click process within the app and after about 3-4 minutes, your LG G Vista will be rooted! |
